The steam locomotives of the Pt 2/3 class of the Royal Bavarian Railways are two-cylinder superheated steam locomotives for light passenger trains. They were produced by Krauss from 1909 to 1915. With their characteristic design of the shaft running far forward and two coupled shafts located under the vertical boiler, they were superior to the equivalent Bavarian Pt 2/4 N and was able to exist on the southern German branch lines until the 1960s.Deutsche Bundesbahn takes over 89 locomotives; four remained in Austria, three apparently could no longer be economically disposed of due to the effects of the war, and one retired in 1935. The last locomotive, 70 083, retired in 1963 at the Nuremberg Federal Railway Directorate and transferred to Munich. After it had spent almost forty years as an engineering monument in Mühldorf am Inn, Bayerischer Localbahnverein e. V. was able to return the locomotive to service in 2005. After installing the PZB 90 train control system and the GSM-R train radio, it will be used for steam trains throughout Bavaria and neighboring Austria
